iPAD Elbow?

One door closes, another one opens

Medical science advances. For example, just as it seems we are getting closer to cures for (some) cancers, vide Siddhartha Mukherjee’s masterpiece The Emperor of all Maladies new illnesses appear – invented by us.

Does anyone remember Housemaids’ knee? Quite a few people have heard of  Tennis elbow  with its new cousin Book elbow.

But now we have a plague of mainly gaming-induced illnesses including: Wii knee  Nintendonitis or Nintendo thumb,  Playstation thumb and Wiiitis

Hardly surprising then that iPAD elbow is the latest one, along with iPAD shoulder

Wonder what Leonardo da Vinci who admired the human body so much (his famous sketch Vitruvian Man above) would make of it? And how long before the first lawsuit?

More of this stuff on BBC Radio 4 Inside Health which includes a fascinating item on what you might call the Whiplash Claim industry costing insurers (that’s you and me folks) £2 billion a year
